Here in Lethbridge, people rail about the lack of a third bridge across the river, the fact we are without a multi-purpose leisure centre, the need for a new performing-arts theatre and the strong gusts of wind citizens battle almost daily.

Spencer Beach's powerful story, told at a safety conference in Lethbridge on Tuesday, highlights the importance of workplace safety. The Human Resources and Skills Development Canada website says there are close to 1,000 deaths from work-related injuries or diseases every year.
