“Pokitsowaakii”
SCOUT
May 14, 1966 - May 13, 2012
‘With each sunset, there is a beautiful sunrise. I am Home. I did not leave you. I only came here to prepare a place for when we will all be together again.’ Glenda “Annie” Scout made her peaceful journey into the spirit world on Mother’s Day to join her grandparents, relatives and friends. Annie, as she was lovingly and affectionately known by her family and many friends, had a beautiful soul and a personality that captured the goodness of life. Her smile lit up the spirits of everyone she met and her presence made everyone feel at ease. Her children were her world. Annie sacrificed all she could to raise her two sons, Blaire and Hugh Daine, in a home where her heart beat with a reassurance that brought laughter, nourishment and comfort into their lives. She later thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren Ethan and Leyton.
Annie was raised in a caring home with her mother Lucille, and brothers Brent (Bonnie), Lance (Roxanne), Larry and numerous relatives. Lucille’s influence on her children enabled them to excel in sports and she shared in their love of music. Annie, the only girl in the family, proved she was just as capable of competing in sports on the same determined level as her brothers. This competitive spirit helped her win many medals in individual and team sports. Her talent and skill made her a natural choice to be selected on fastball, volleyball and basketball teams, and her determination and drive in the sport of track-and-field awarded her the many medals she earned.
As a young girl, Annie was part of a delegation which represented the Blood Tribe during the opening ceremonies at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta. In her work history, Annie shared her motherly instincts with children with the Child & Youth Care department. She was an accomplished clarinet player and enjoyed listening to music. She was also a very accomplished reader and enjoy self-help therapy including yoga and kinesiology.
Lucille deeply loved and cared for her children and grandchildren with help from Brent and Annie. They helped mom make sure their brothers and grandchildren were fed and kept clean. During those early times in their lives, Lucille maintained a solid foundation from which they learned compassion, caring and helping others—life lessons they all still continue to practice today. These traits of caring and sharing brought Annie into the spiritual world as she helped with the Sundance ceremonies in every way she could.
During her lifetime, Annie had many accomplishments including her role as a model. She was a natural beauty as she walked on many runways with grace and elegance.
Glenda “Annie” Scout will be sadly missed by her many friends on the Blood reserve and beyond and will be forever remembered by all who felt her compassion and generosity.
Annie leaves to mourn her mother Lucille; children Blaire and Hugh; grandchildren Ethan and Leyton; brothers Brent (Renee and son Joseph; Julian & Courtney and son Natosi; and Slade & Ravyn), Lance (John & Autumn), Larry (Jasmine); family, relatives and many, many friends including her special friend Karl Russell.
A Wake Service will be held at the Moses Lake Gym, Blood Reserve on Tuesday, May 22nd from 7:00 to 11 p.m. continuing all night at Lucille Scout’s residence. The Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Wednesday, May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Blood Band Cemetery.
