MRS. LEAH GERTRUDE GERLA (nee Begg) of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Lloyd Gerla, passed away peacefully at West Highlands Centre on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the age of 89 years.
Leah is survived by her children Jim (Colleen), Marianne Erno, Don (Noreen) and Michael, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her beloved husband she was predeceased by her son-in-law Brian Erno, daughter-in-law Colleen, parents and siblings.
Leah was born in Medicine Hat on April 20, 1923 and grew up on the family farm in Winnifred. She met her husband Lloyd in Calgary while they were both in the army. After the army they married and eventually moved back to Lethbridge.
Leah was an avid golfer and long time member of the Lethbridge Country Club. She loved spending time with family, who will miss Gran’s shortbread and apple pies.
At her request there will be a private family service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of one’s choice.

MARY YVONNE "EVE" PETERSON, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre, on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the age of 59 years after a courageous battle with cancer
Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Besides her loving husband Reg, she is survived by her children Josie Doll (Mike) of Medicine Hat and Kim Peterson of Vancouver as well as her grandchildren Mikka Doll (6) and Christian Doll (3).
She is also survived by her brothers Roman Dale Earl (Alice) of Calgary, Anthony Secondo Earl (Barb) of Washington and her sister Gabrielle Anne Earl of Lethbridge. Eve was predeceased by her parents Franklin Dale and Mary Anne Earl.
Eve grew up in Lethbridge and attended L.C.I. She met and married Reg in 1976 in Cardston, Alberta and shortly after opened Y/COMM Services Ltd. which she proudly owned and operated until her retirement in October 2012.
Besides truly enjoying her work, Eve loved long walks in the coulees, swimming, playing with her grandkids and spending time with family and friends.
In recent years she travelled and enjoyed trips to Costa Rica, Disneyland, Toronto, Vancouver and most recently an unforgettable trip with her girls to New York City.
Anyone who knew Eve knew she was an incredible, kind, and caring person. Her greatest joy was helping others. Her kind spirit and loving ways will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

MAXINE LYDIA WATSON PORTEOUS passed away quietly on Saturday, January 5th, 2013.
Maxine was born on May 24, 1925 in Magrath, Alberta, to Dave and Lydia Watson. As a child she lived in Magrath, Raymond, and Cardston. She married Alexander Porteous on February 27th, 1944. While Alex served in the army, Maxine worked, and with the help of her brother, built a home in Cardston. During their 60 year marriage, Maxine and Alex lived in many places: Cardston, Lethbridge, Salt Lake City, spending 39 years in Gladstone Valley. When Maxine became ill, she was able to live in Raymond, near her daughter, Laura.
Maxine was an excellent cook and no one left her home hungry. She was creative and resourceful. She loved children and was a foster parent for many years. Maxine valued education, and at the age of 52, returned to school to finish her high school diploma and continued on to complete a college business program. She took piano and art lessons after her retirement. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities throughout her life. She was an excellent teacher.
Maxine was predeceased by her husband Alex and a grandson, Victor Jenson. She is survived by her children Phil (Dawn) of Aetna, Jim (Julie) of Lethbridge, Babette (Larry) Jenson of Calgary, Laura (Dana) Hirsche of Raymond, Carol (Craig) Gross of Pincher Creek, and Chris of Raymond. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, RAYMOND STAKE CENTRE, 2 North 200 West, Raymond, at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 10, 2013. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am.

great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Floyd
Pickett, Don (Dorothy) Pickett, Merle (Florence) Pickett and Delbert
(Delores) Pickett; her sister Helen Fallon and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Jesse Petersen, son Donald Petersen,
parents Fred and Olga Pickett, sister Hazel Pickett, sisters-in-law Dorothy
Pickett, Vivian Pickett and brother-in-law Bud Fallon.
Rose was born in Rosemary August 3, 1922. Her passion was her raspberry
patch and there was always ice cream, angel food cake and fresh raspberries
on the table. Her biggest passion was her home, family and her love for
making quilts.

Sue was born in Taber October 28, 1949. She devoted her life to education
with multiple degrees from Brigham Young University. She taught with the
Horizon School Division for thirty five years, the last fifteen spent at the
Sunnysite and Delco colonies. Sue will always be remembered and cherished
for her warm heart and strong family values.

Bill completed his education in Truro, Nova Scotia. He came to Lethbridge, AB in 1979 where he has resided since.
Bill is survived by Mel Crawford (Mother of their sons) Tyler and Glenn Walker and his companion, Gail Stott.
He is also survived by his sisters Patsy, Debbie, Cheryl, Phyllis, Merny, Georgie & his beloved brother, Leonard as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended families.
Bill’s service will be held at River of Life Church at 2820 - 18th Ave. North on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 6:30pm.
