DARLENE MARIAN ROBINSON (May 25, 1938 – September 6, 2010)
After a courageous battle with cancer, Darlene passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at the Claresholm General Hospital in the early morning hours of September 6, 2010. Darlene was born to Charles and Theresa Sava, and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. Darlene started her long and successful career as a nurse in 1956. She began as a student at St. Michael’s Hospital in Lethbridge, where she met her husband Bruce, and then enjoyed a varied career that included neurology, gynecology, general nursing, and long term care of the aged. For the last several years of her career, Darlene worked with the Claresholm Home Care Program until her retirement in 2001.
Darlene will forever be remembered by her loving husband of 50 years, and her devoted and loving daughters Shannon (Troy Winget) and Sheila, her mother, Theresa, her brother Chuck and family, and nephew Rick and family, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to have known her.
Darlene loved to dance and play the piano. She had a sense of adventure that spanned horseback riding along the continental divide to diving the great barrier reef in Australia. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, being with friends, and playing golf.
Darlene touched the lives of many people through her career first as a nurse in the Lethbridge, Cardston and Claresholm Hospitals, and then as a home care nurse within the Headwaters Health Region. Many will remember her passion for nursing, her caring way, and her smile and generosity.
Darlene maintained a positive outlook throughout her illness, and felt blessed by the love and support of the people close to her. She will truly be missed.
