BRANDLEY
ROBERT LOUIS BRANDLEY, February 21st, 1925 – June 25th, 2012, son of Louis Orson Brandley and Edda Anderson Brandley was born in the back of Grandpa Theodore Brandley’s store in Stirling, Alberta.
Bob married Catherine Marie Grunewald on December 22nd, 1948, and had nine children with her; Diane (Myles Dunn), James, Becky (Heber Beazer), Sylvia (Richard Torrie), Susan (Frank Stanford), Rob (Tammy), Richard (Louise), Brenda (Eric Low), and Bill (Melanie). They have thirty-five grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren, with more on the way.
Bob was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life serving in many capacities such as Bishop, High Counselor, temple worker, and missionary, once as a young man and again with his wife. Bob loved to help people, especially creating projects in his workshop; many happy hours were spent there with family, friends, neighbors, and cubs. Bob was also very community minded and shared his talents through creating lights and sound for plays, decorating floats, designing weddings, programs, dances, and spearheading the development of the Raymond Museum. Bob was an ardent scouter for over twenty-five years and received the Boy Scouts of Canada Silver Acorn Award. He loved to teach and was an excellent teacher for twenty-two years in Warner and in Raymond. He was the life of any party and enjoyed a good joke, particularly puns; he was especially talented at playing the comb and always took requests. Bob loved beauty and surrounded their home and farm with beautiful trees, shrubs, gardens and, of course, the big toy for the grandchildren to play on. He was constantly working in the yard, creating beautiful vignettes for people to view, planting more trees, making new creations. Many are the times he would call one of us to sit and look at the view and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Bob was a loving husband, wonderful father and fantastic grandfather. He loved generously and was deeply loved in return. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday, June 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the Knight Street Chapel, 260 E, 200 N, Raymond. Friends may meet with the family prior to the service from 12:30 - 1:40 p.m. Interment to follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery.
