Marg is survived by her children Laura (Bill) Tempany of Calgary, Tom Lewis
of Keg River and Tim (Deb) Lewis of Taber; nine grandchildren Tim (Siobhan)
Tempany, Ted Tempany (Krista Andrews) and Will (Autumn) Tempany, Shane and
Corey Lewis and Tara (Mark) Coney, Jeff (Kalee) Lewis, Becky (Lorne Passey)
Vincent and Diana (Kevin) Zimmer and sixteen great grandchildren. She is
also survived by her sister Nellie Ellingson, two sisters-in-law Margaret
McKibben, Clara Parry and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marg was predeceased by her husband of nearly sixty years, Robert Lewis;
three brothers Emrys, Phil and Elwyn Parry; sister-in-law Julie Parry; two
brothers-in-law Earl Ellingson and Ross McKibben.
Marg was born June 21, 1925 in Ford City, County of Essex, Ontario, to Kate
and Jack Parry. She will be remembered by all for her strong will, love of
life and all animals; her contributions to the Knox United Church choir and
United Church Women, the Legion Auxiliary, the sports she participated in
which included championship level badminton, curling, golf, water skiing and
anything else that involved participation and competition. Marg’s zest for
life, inability to pass up a challenge, incredible work ethic and creativity
allowed her to build a life with Bob on the harsh prairie with water
supplied in buckets from the local coulee, heat in the one car garage from a
single gas stove, kerosene refrigerator and everyone huddling around a
folding table for great meals that always appeared from what little was on
hand. She had challenges like the baby’s wet diaper freezing to the floor in
the garage so once the kids got past those tender moments, they moved into
the house that they called home for the next forty years. Together, Bob and
Marg ran a very successful operation and in the later years enjoyed travel
with friends to Europe, Hawaii and even Mexico on one occasion.
Marg always enjoyed the company of other people whether traveling, singing
in the church choir or spending Saturday nights wherever there was a dance
happening. Bob and Marg were the quintessential bebop couple and jived like
there was no tomorrow into the late seventies. Music was a large part of
Marg’s life and the songs she sang to her family are a fond remembrance of
the gentleness of a great woman that never let “I can’t” be part of anything
in her life. Marg was thrilled by her great granddaughters playing the piano
for her at the lodge and the music goes on. She will be missed by family,
friends and the many people whose lives she touched.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Marg’s name may be made directly
to the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta  T1G 1H7 and
designate for the dishwasher fund.
