1936 - 2012
John Alfred Berringer passed away peacefully at the Care West Sarcee Hospice on December 28, 2012 at the age of 76 years. John is survived by his loving wife Wynn, and children Beverley, Jason, Julie, Ken, 6 siblings, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and Wookey. John was predeceased by his sister Monica. Born in London, England, John immigrated to Canada in 1967 where his career in aviation offered him the opportunity to travel the world. He joined the Masonic Fraternity in Revelstoke, B.C. in 1979 and later found Lethbridge, Alberta his home. Daniel Joseph Royer
May 21, 1926 - December 28, 2012
Daniel, (Dan - 86 years old), passed away peacefully in his home in Calgary, Alberta, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Under the loving care of his son-in-law Bruce Griffith- Cochrane, and with continuous visits from all of his family, Dan's life was filled with love and laughter right to the end.
Dan, the middle of nine siblings, was born in the French Community of Beaumont, Alberta to Andre and Lucie Royer. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Alice Royer, six children; Terry (Maureen), Diana (Richard) Bernard, Wynne (Gordon) Towers, Greg (Cindy), Randy (Jane) and Michelle (Bruce) Griffith-Cochrane, his 21 grandchildren, their spouses and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers; Victor (Beth) and Aurell (Laverne), two sisters; Denise Royer and Lorraine Gaumont and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Robert and three sisters; Evelyn, Estelle and Vivienne.
Dan was a life long learner and entrepreneur who encouraged his offspring and influenced many with his warm smile, infectious laugh and magnetic personality. Although Dan’s many enterprises centered in Alberta they spread across Canada and into the United States involving all of his children in various capacities and partnerships. Dan experienced a variety of vocations including construction, military and business with a focus on hotels. He enjoyed and was involved in many sports but his greatest love was his family who will cherish the memory of "Grandpa Dan".

JAMES (JIM) BISHOP
Jim Bishop beloved husband of Norma Bishop passed away December 18, 2012 at the age of 71 at St. Michael’s Palliative Care. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Norma, daughter Kelley (Bob) Neal, son Bryan (Izumi) Moen, his mother Shirley Bishop, foster daughters Gina Hunt and Seleena and Alyssa Eagle Speaker as well as numerous other family members. Jim was predeceased by his father Percy, sister Barbara and brother Bill.  
Jim was born and raised in Calgary. He spent several years in Ontario where he worked as a banker, social worker and business owner. Jim missed the prairies and returned to Lethbridge in 1993 when he met and married his soul mate Norma.
Jim enjoyed camping with Norma and his foster daughters, travelling throughout the US with the girls. He enjoyed attending powwows and was so proud to watch the girls dance.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 4 at 1 p.m. at Ecole St. Mary School, 422 – 20th Street, South, Lethbridge.

MILLS
MRS. OLIVE LILLIAN MILLS, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Mills, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2013 at the age of 95 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marilyn (Al) Sinclair of Lethbridge, two grandsons, John (Siarron) Sinclair of Calgary and Gabe Sinclair of Lethbridge as well as two sisters in law Evelyne Elder and Margaret Nafe.
She was predeceased by her husband John (1915-1976) her parents George & Emma Elder, brothers Bill & Ray Elder, sisters in law, Dorothy Mills and Irene Elder and one brother in law Larry Nafe.
Olive was born February 25, 1917 in Kipling, SK where she was raised and educated. She was fortunate to take piano lessons from her aunt and was the community organist. She played in a dance band for three years before she was married. Olive has always been active in the United Church, first at Lansdown United Church in Kipling, SK, St. James Church in Regina, SK and finally at McKillop United Church in Lethbridge.
She taught piano lessons for nearly 40 years and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends and students.
The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Acres Care Centre for their wonderful care.
Graveside Services will be held at RIVERSIDE MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Cathy Coates officiating.
A Service of Remembrance will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the home of Joyce & Pete Raczynski, 1357 Horace Street, Regina, SK.

MRS. KORNELIA "KORRIE" PIETERTJE OUWERKERK of Fort Macleod, beloved wife of Mr. Antonie Ouwerkerk, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the age of 69 years.

Korrie was born September 21, 1943 in the Netherlands. She came to Canada with her family in 1957 and settled with her family in Diamond City. Korrie married her husband Tony in 1965. She raised her family on the farm. She cleaned house for others for several years and drove school bus for 22 years. Korrie was an avid camper and loved to be out with her children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh. She had a very loving and generous spirit. She was full of life! She will be dearly missed.
Besides her loving husband Tony, Korrie is survived by her four daughters; Joy (Dave) Trautman, Peggy (Lourens) Van Essen, Brenda (Wim) Groenendyk, Carolyn (Nilo) Nolasco, three sons; Allan, Bradley (Tracy) and Jonathan. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Nathan and Shaylene Braun, Tiffany and Natasha Ouwerkerk, Carla (John) Van Rhee, Allan, Randy (Melanie Rienstra), Sylvia, Darren, Leandra and Brendan Van Essen, John, Liana, Jeremy, Rebecca, Matthew, Jesse, and Stephanie Groenendyk, Krista and Tara Heerschap, her sisters; Maatje, Cobi, Anneke and Kay, and brothers; Kor, Olivier, and Rinus, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Korrie was predeceased by her parents Pietertje and Anthonie Vanden Hoek, brother Boudewijn Vanden Hoek, in-laws Bastiaan and Johanna Ouwerkerk, Bill Ouwerkerk, Harriet Van Waardhuizen, infant Antonie Ouwerkerk, son-in-law Greg Braun and grandchild Edwin Van Essen.

TAKACS
April 26, 1928-December 20, 2012
STEVE JOHN TAKACS, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the age of 84 years and will be sadly missed by his family.
He is survived by his son Steve Takacs (Sylvia) of Port Coquitlam, BC; sister Ann Panes, nephew Stephen Panes, niece Kimberley Hanney (Andrew) and their children Madyson, Carsen and Lucas.
Steve was born in Totszerdahely, Hungary, and immigrated to Canada with his mother in 1938 to join his father and become a Canadian citizen. They came to Nobleford, AB and a year later moved to Picture Butte. Steve enlisted with the army in Vancouver in 1951 and was stationed in Chilliwack, BC. As a member of 23rd Field Squadron Royal Canadian Engineers, he served in the Korean War. Upon his return from the war he took over his father's farm land, where he both farmed and bought and sold cattle, until his retirement. During his early years before joining the army, he worked in the bush near Revelstoke, helped build the Three Sisters Dam in Canmore, and was a cowboy on the Copithorne Ranch near Cochrane. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Royal Canadian Legion. An avid curler, he won many trophies. He loved to read, travel, nature drive, fish, hunt, and socialize with friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1:00 P.M.
Interment to follow in the Huntsville Cemetery.
