BOYCHUK
MRS. LENA BOYCHUK, beloved wife of the late Mr. Mike Boychuk of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Therese Villa on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the age of 89 years.
She is the loving mother of Richard Boychuk of Slave Lake, Robert Boychuk of Lethbridge, Michael Boychuk of Calgary, Carol (Ron) Krikke of Coaldale, Ken (Bonnie) Boychuk of Lethbridge, Ron (Dianna) Boychuk of Lethbridge, Gerry Mclaren of Slave Lake, Sheila Dietzen of Lethbridge. She is also survived by two brothers; Bill (Joyce) Kotchonoski of Edmonton, and Steve Hardy of Edmonton.
Lena is survived by grandkids; Sue (Colin), Lindsay (Kyle), Chris (Trina), Ric (Keri), Kyle , Andrew, Mark, Andrew, Laine (Mike), Reeve (Kristen) and Tyler. She is the great grandmother of 10.
Lena is predeceased by her husband Mike, son Thomas, son-in-laws Donald Dietzen, Richard McLaren, Grandson Jeff McLaren, brothers Ed Raitz, Philip Kotchonoski; and Sister Mary Pearsall.
Mom was born in Hillcrest, AB but raised in Canmore, AB. Mom came to Lethbridge for work and worked at the Galt Hospital. It was here she met the love of her life Mike, they married on July 7, 1945. Mom and Dad settled in the river bottom, and raised nine children. In 1967 mom and dad moved to Lethbridge, mom was a devoted mother, always putting her kids before anything. Mom always made sure we had what we needed. Mom worked a few years at the Galt, but the majority of her years were devoted to raising her kids. After dads passing away and her failing health, mom moved into St. Therese Villa Nursing Home where she remained until her passing. Mom kept her mind and her wit with her till the end. When visiting mom she would always ask about all her kids. Most important to her, she would ask about Bob. Together at last, as dad would say; THERE’S MY “SWEETIE”.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. with Keith & Ina Boyden, Officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASILS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13th Street, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Tim Boyle, Celebrant.
Cremation to follow. A Private family inurnment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
