ERICKSON
GRANT ERICKSON, beloved husband of the late Joanne Erickson, passed away Thursday October 4, 2012, aged 83 years. Mourning his passing are his children: Kathy, Steven (Leah), and Richard Erickson, and Michele (Earl) Goodwin; his grandchildren Riley, Carlene, Ben, Jordan, Joel, Tianna, and Jason Walburger; Clara, Olin, and Nathan Erickson; Claire and Russell Goodwin, Travis Cahoon; and Miles and Marcus Woolley.
He was predeceased by his infant son Russell, his wife Joanne, his parents Alif and Ruby Erickson, and his brothers Richard and Evan Erickson.
Grant was a teacher and a musician, teaching in the Lethbridge and area school systems for 35 years and finishing his career in the Raymond schools. As a band teacher and private music instructor, he gave a musical start to thousands of students. Midway through his career he served as Superintendent of Music for the Lethbridge School District, leaving as a legacy many music programs that exist to this day. He was respected as a composer and arranger, an accomplished trumpet and trombone player, and a sought after clinician.
Grant began playing music professionally at age 14, continuing for 69 years with many bands – including the Lethbridge Big Band, the Raymond Canadians and other dance orchestras. He played regularly for Lethbridge Musical Theatre and New West productions. He was most recently seen performing Dixieland weekends at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club where he played the "Call To The Post" at the racetrack for 13 years.
An avid supporter of the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, Grant donated many hours to the orchestra as a performer and a volunteer. After giving up his seat in the trombone section, he was a regular attendee at all Symphony concerts.
Devoted to his church, Grant served two missions, first in Tonga, and later with his sweetheart Joanne, on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. He served in various capacities over the years in his local congregation, and for the last several years as a temple worker in the Cardston, Alberta temple.
Friends may meet the family on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the funeral service on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the church.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE EAST STAKE CENTRE, 4105 Forestry Avenue South, Lethbridge. Interment in the Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge.

FRENCH
RUSSELL CARL FRENCH, of Cardston, beloved husband of Patria French, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2012 at the age of 81 years.
Russ was born in Cardston on August 21, 1931 to Charles Osborn (Oz) and Bessie French and raised on a farm near Hillspring, Alberta with 6 brothers and 4 sisters. He attended school in Hillspring where he completed grade 12.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the French Mission. Following his mission, he attended BYU where he earned his teaching degree. He met the love of his life, Patria, while he was teaching night classes in Cardston. He also taught in Del Bonita and Magrath.
Russ had a passion for ranching and horses and a love of rodeo. He also loved to watch his kids play sports. In addition, he loved people and always had a story or joke to tell. Whether he knew you well or had never met you, with Russ there were no strangers. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and made instant friends.
Besides his loving wife, Pat, Russ is survived by his children Teri (Kari) Aho, Curtis (Jinky) French, Sue French, Barbara (Sid) French, Michael (Shantel) French, Lori (Ties) van de Werken, Kevin (Rylee) French and Doug & Leslie Antal. He is also survived by his brother Edgar (Faye) French and sisters Ellen (Dave-deceased) Bingham and Elaine (Clarke) Lybbert as well as 26 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Russ was predeceased by his son, Richard Grant French, and daughter, Stacey Nicole French, as well as 2 sisters, 5 brothers and his parents.
Friends may meet the family at Legacy Funeral Home on Monday, October 8th from 7 to 8 p.m. or on Tuesday, October 9th from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service.
The Funeral Service will be held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta West Stake Center on Tuesday, October 9th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Shawn Olsen Officiating. Interment in the Cardston Cemetery.

IRMLER
MRS. MARIAN JOHANNA IRMLER of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ewald "Frank" Irmler, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the age of 82 years.
Marian immigrated to Canada in 1955 and was employed at St. Michael’s Hospital. In 1958 she married the love of her life Ewald and began a new chapter in her life.
Marian was a nurturing woman and throughout the years took care of numerous children as well as family and friends.
She participated in many activities throughout her life including those her daughters were involved in. Gardening, sewing, knitting and walking her beloved dog Christy were a few of the many things she enjoyed.
Marian is survived by her daughters Marian (Kim) Selk and Irene (Mark) Irmler; grandchildren Amanda (Cody) Edwards, Josh (Jenn) Keen, Justin Selk, and Tamara Meisner; brother Frans (Betsy) Vos; dear friend Elsie; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her beloved husband Frank, Marian was predeceased by her parents Hendrikus and Gerritdina Vos; brothers Jan Vos and Herman Vos; sisters Betsy Schutte and Ann Hullen.
At the family’s request, there will be a private service.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 1:00pm and 3:00pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH HALL, 2405 - 12 Ave South, Lethbridge.

HAZEL BELLE NIELSEN TANNER, beloved wife of James Henry Tanner, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2012 at the age of 91 years.
She is survived by her dear husband of 72 years, children Phyllis (Dale) Evanson, Jim (Becky), Linda (Ron) Layton, Karen (Dave) Armstrong, Lester (Brenda), Don (Shawna), Ken (Sheila). She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Nielsen and sister Lorna Stubbert, as well as 29 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Oliver and Erma (Peterson) Nielsen and brother Lawrence.
Hazel was born July 9, 1921 in Cardston. The majority of her life was spent in Barnwell where she attended school and later married Jim in the Cardston Alberta Temple. The small farming community of Barnwell became their home where together they raised their family.
She was a devoted member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in the Relief Society, MIA, and Primary organizations and many years as choir director. Her love for the youth was also evident in her 13 years of service as an early morning seminary teacher. Throughout her life music played an important role. She enriched the lives of many through her talent and passion for music. Hazel and Jim served 2 six-month Family History missions in Salt Lake City.
Hazel was also very involved in community life and service and well known for acts of kindness.
She and Jim had a way of making all who entered their home feel welcomed and loved. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Friends may meet the family in Cardston at the CHINOOK LODGE, Monday morning, October 8th between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Friends may also meet the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell, Alberta on Monday, October 8th, between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. OR on Tuesday, October 9th from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m.prior to the Service.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell, Alberta on Tuesday, October 9th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.

Wayne Wilson, beloved husband of Twila Wilson (nee Doenz) of Calgary, passed away on October 2, 2012 at the age of 63 years after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Wayne was a devoted husband, father, brother and brother-in-law. Wayne was born to Tom and Doris Wilson of Lucky Strike, AB. He spent his school years in Masinasin and Erle Rivers High, Milk River, AB. Wayne wed his high school sweetheart, Twila who he loved and cherished for forty-two years until his last breath. Wayne and Twila moved to Calgary in 1971 where Wayne started his career in the oil and gas industry. Wayne obtained his CGA and MBA degree and was involved in the start up of multiple oil and gas ventures and held various executive positions where he was a respected professional of the Calgary business community. Wayne semi-retired in 2008 and pursued his love of golf and spending time with his family in warm climates swinging the clubs.
Wayne is survived by and was profoundly proud of his sons, Ash and Everett (Crystal); and his wife Twila. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Lori) and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Wayne will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Doris Wilson.
