It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad and Grandpa, ROBERT (BOB) NELSON CHRISTIE of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Carolla Christie, on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the age of 68 years.
Bob touched and influenced many lives. He will always be remembered for his caring, generosity and concern for family and friends. We will miss his insight and the many delightful stories he shared with us. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Kelly (Susan) and Shelia (Scott); and by the pride of his life his grandsons, Robert, Thomas and Alexander; and by very special family and friends. Bob is at peace now with his beloved Carolla and will be greatly missed.

1952-2013
Richard Steve Chudobiak of Lethbridge passed away suddenly, January 2, 2013 at the age of 60 years.
Richard is survived by his wife Anne, daughter Michelle (Bret) Couper -Mackenzie and Tanner; and son Jason. Richard is also survived by his sister, Susan Parr of Lethbridge and brothers John of Coaldale and Bruce of Calgary as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Richard was born and raised in Lethbridge and worked as a plumber.
There will be no funeral. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Judy Kay Day Chief (Aapiiksisskstaki)
December 28, 1958 ~ January 1, 2013
Judy was called home by the creator as her work on earth was complete. Judy was born at the Blood Indian Hospital in Cardston, AB. She attended school first at Lethbridge, AB, Magrath, AB and then later at St. Mary’s High School on the Blood Reserve, where she was the first out of 16 siblings to graduate. She was an accomplished Basketball player and received a scholarship to play for Medicine Hat College. She later went on to receive many MVP’s and All Star trophies in the Treaty 7 League. Due to her talent, she travelled all over North America. Judy chose careers that served others. She worked for "Our Home" for 10 years as a child care counselor. Judy then worked for Red Crow Community College for 15 years as the Arts and Science Registrar.
Judy was a mother, grandmother, auntie, and sister. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of their lifetime accomplishments.
Judy Kay is survived by her children Brad (Chanelle), Darryl (Alana), Courtney, Aaliyah, and Tenille; grandchildren Violet, Iris, Scarlette, Dason, Tess, Payton, Bryleigh, Maleek, Kix, Hunter, Felix, Jubei, Kadlynn, Montana; adopted mom Evangeline Chief Moon; adopted children Victor, John-John, Leon(Tara), Darcy, Kristy (Barney), Jesse Sugai, Tracy (Beth), Kelly (Deanna); God-children Wendy, Samantha, Bryce; brothers Winston Sr. (Martha), Wilton (Tina), Chester (Bonnie), Bruce (Carla), Perry, Brian McDougall; sisters Rosaline, June, Rita (Keith), Hariete, Levern (Rodney), Patsy, Delia (John); sister-in-law Julianna Day Chief; brother-in-law Johnny Bruised Head; adopted brothers Larry (Dianne) Marsh, Shawn Singer; Aunts Christine (Ervin) Shade, Mae Singer, and Beatrice Boucette (Morley, AB).
Judy is predeceased by her parents Victor and Lucy (Heavy Runner) Day Chief, paternal grandparents John and Minnie (Trollenger) Day Chief, maternal grandparents William and Marion (Crying Head) Heaver Runner; brother Jarvis Day Chief; sisters Alfreda, Doris Day Chief; grandchildren Wilbert, Brent, Robbie , Bradley, Jodie Day Chief, and Grandma Margaret Running Crane.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bester, nursing staff, especially Cheyenne Black Water, and Sandra Eagle Child, and her niece Tracy girl. A special thank you to Johnny Day Rider of Heart Butte, Montana and Arnold Mountain Horse.

George is survived by his three sons Randy (Pam) Drotar of Taber, Derek
Drotar of Lethbridge and Jerry Drotar of Taber; grandson Harley Drotar;

He was predeceased by his wife Teresa and sister-in-law Ruth Drotar.
George was born in Inacovce, Czechoslovakia on June 5, 1928 to John and
Mary Drotar. In 1939 he immigrated with his mother to Canada to join his
father who came years earlier. The family settled in the Taber area where
they farmed north of Barnwell. He married Teresa Bozestowsa on November 11,
1967. George and Teresa remained on the family farm where they raised their
three sons. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.

Forest Nephi Sherwood:
August 3rd, 1920 – December 30th, 2012
Forest Nephi Sherwood died peacefully at the University Hospital in Edmonton on December 30th. He was in good health, enjoying his time with family right up until his passing through to the other side. Forest grew up in Glenwood and Lethbridge. After the war he graduated from the University of Alberta in agriculture, returning to Lethbridge to work in irrigation. The family then moved to Calgary, where in the early 1960s he established Evergreen Irrigation, currently being succeeded by third generation family members. Forest continued to work until he was 75. Family was Forest’s reason to be. He was interested in everyone and everything. The first word used to describe him was "charming", backed up by intelligence and integrity. He was a "gentle" gentleman to the core. He will be greatly missed.
Forest is survived by his four children – Sandra Dronyk, Valerie Kennedy, Trisha (Cliff) Spencer, and Tim (Donna); brothers; Dale (Lucy) and Darryl (Lynn), and sister-in-law Holly, fourteen grandchildren and spouses, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Bernice, daughter Sheila Tillipaugh, brother Melvin, and grand-daughter Nikki Spencer.
The family gives heartfelt thanks to Dr. Takalych and his staff for their special care of Forest over so many years.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riverside United Church in Okotoks, 43 Riverside Drive, T1S 1A7.

MANN-SWANSON
LAURIN MARIE MANN-SWANSON of Lethbridge, cherished wife of Don Swanson, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2012 at the age of 57 years, following a valiant battle with cancer.
Laurin was born to George and Nellie Mann on April 2, 1955 in Lacombe, AB. She attended public schools in Lethbridge and Boulder, CO and earned a BA in English and Drama from the U of L. Laurin then completed a MFA at the U of Oregon and, following her graduation with a Ph.D from the U of T, taught, directed and served as a choreographer during six years as a faculty member of TTU in Lubbock, TX. She also taught at the University of Lethbridge and Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. Upon her return to Lethbridge, Laurin enjoyed working with staff at The Jasmine Room.
Laurin loved to perform on stage both professionally and with many community theatre groups. She enjoyed reading a good book and watching a good movie. She loved her family and her animals deeply. Over the years, Laurin was a loyal Edmonton Eskimo and Oilers fan. She loved gardening and walking her beloved dog, Shy-Li.
Laurin is survived by her loving husband Don Swanson, parents George and Nellie Mann, sister Debra Logan (Calvin), brothers David Mann (Janet Hinton-Mann) and Darin Mann, nieces Elisha and Kathleen Mann, nephews Derek and Patrick Logan, Don’s sons Justin and Jordan Swanson, and Justin’s children Angela and Donny as well as numerous relatives and dear friends, especially Karen Kay.
Laurin was predeceased by her grandparents and her nephew Matthew Logan. The family is grateful for the compassionate care and support of Laurin by Dr. Ireland and the Palliative Care team, Marion West, Charmaine Dykslag and Maureen Smith from Home Care, and the Sunrise Village staff.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 411 – 11 Street South, Lethbridge with Canon James Robinson officiating.

MATHESON, Patricia Anne (Pat)
August 24, 1930 – December 23, 2012
Patricia Matheson (nee Maughan), beloved wife of Frank, passed away on December 23, 2012, with family at her side. Pat was born in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1930. On June 30, 1949 she married Frank and soon after started a family. They resided in Edmonton, Lethbridge, Fort MacLeod, Calgary, Billings Montana, Everett Washington and High River for the next 63 years. Pat was a full time mom for most of those years, hauling her children and, many times, those of her neighbours to baseball games, hockey games, football games, soccer games not to mention numerous band practices and dancing lessons. She was an adventurous type and many a Sunday afternoon would be spent traveling the back roads of southern Alberta, begun with the simple statement, “Come on kids, let’s go get lost!” She was a compassionate and caring woman who believed strongly in fair play and good sportsmanship. She inherited her passion for her family from her mother. She was a housewife, a mother and even a pee wee league baseball coach. She was gracious, always able to engage those around her and loved her family and friends dearly. She is once again back with her best friend Frank. Pat was predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents, Joseph and Helen Maughan, and by her brothers and sisters Annette, William, Joseph Jr., Marion, and John. She is survived by her children Don (Jenny), Gorde (Linda), Rod (Germaine), Bill, Franquie (Leigh Parkinson) and her grandchildren Heather, Dylan, Gordyn, Austyn, Murdoch, and Taylor. The family would like to express its deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff at the High River Hospital, especially in the Emergency Department and the 3rd floor where Pat spent her last days. As well, we are truly blessed to have had Dr. Sarah Bell-Dingwall with us over the past year as her Family Doctor as well as Dr. James (Jim) Stone over the last several years as her Cardiologist. They are outstanding and compassionate doctors who took great care of both Mom and Dad. A Memorial Service will be held in High River in the spring. An announcement will be made at a later date. THEODORE "TED" NICHOLSON, passed away suddenly on January 1, 2013 at the age of 82.
Predeceased by his daughter Karen, and his parents Marion & Harry.
Survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret, his son Cameron (Jennifer), and grandson Kai of Calgary; sister Joy (Robert) Wells of Richmond, BC; nieces Vivian (Terry) & Sandra (David) and their families.
Born in Tisdale, SK in 1930, Ted attended grade-school in Chilliwack, BC & graduated the masters program at UBC. Ted lived & travelled many places throughout his life, and held many vocations including: ambulance driver; first-aid attendant & teacher; working on the D.E.W. LINE; small-business owner; urban-planning manager; and university lecturer.
Hobbies, passions & pass-times include: photography, philately, antique collection & restoration, gardening, traveling, hiking, reading, opera & classical music, winemaking, computers & volunteer activities (Lethbridge Victims Services).
Ted’s endless curiosity, spirit of adventure, attention to detail, dry sense of humor, and staggering abundance of knowledge are dearly missed.

SANDERSON
MR. EDWARD "Ed" SANDERSON of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Erla Sanderson, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the age of 92 years at Edith Cavell.
Ed will be greatly missed by his children Ed (Peggy), Richard (Wilda), and Cheryl (Trevor), his grandchildren Chris (Darcie), Steve (Helen), Robin (Aaron), Melanie, Amber (Stephen), Darcen (Susan), and Allison, his great grandchildren Cade and Chase, his half-brothers Bruce (Joan) and Orville (Frances), and his brother-in-law Leonard.
Ed was born and raised on farms by Maple Creek, Sask. He proudly served with the Canadian Armed Forces in World War Two. Upon his return, Ed married his sweetheart, Erla Keays in 1948. After farming a short time, they moved to Nobleford, AB and Ed was employed at Noble Cultivators as a welder, salesman, and sales manager until he retired in 1982. Ed was an active member of the Legion, Freemasons, Eastern Star, and Nobleford Seniors Organization. He enjoyed family holidays, sports including curling, golf, pool, and baseball, and working in his yard. Ed and Erla moved to Lethbridge in 2000 to River Ridge Condominiums.
