MRS. NELLIE LEONA BAIR of Milk River, beloved wife of the late Mr. Alva C. Bair, passed away after a lengthy battle with Kidney Failure, on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the age of 94 years.
Nellie was predeceased by her husband, Alva C. Bair in March of 1999, a sister Thelma Stevens in January 2010, a sister Myrtle Kingsbury in 1926. She is survived by her son Ronald (Joyce), daughter Lorna, sister Doris (Miles) Adam and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nellie was born on March 7, 1918 at Lucky Strike, AB. She received her education grades one through ten at Lucky Strike, then at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. Nellie helped run their General Store and was assistant Post Master. She was married on October 7, 1943 and lived on Alva’s farm home in the 215 District before moving to a new home in Milk River in 1990. She travelled on many hunting and photography trips with her husband throughout the world. Over a period of 25 years thousands of visitors came to the farm home to see the "Bair Museum" and see slides of their trips. Nellie always had refreshments and homemade cookies and squares to serve their guests. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church, beginning as secretary treasurer, and clerk at session and member of UCW since 1944. She was also a longtime member of the Sleepy Hollow Community Club.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the ST. PAUL’S UNITED CHURCH, 201 – 2 Ave NE, Milk River, with Reverend Sarah Wallace officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Nellie’s name to the Milk River and District Health Care Centre, PO Box 90, Milk River, AB T0K 1M0.

MRS. LUTGARDIS BERGHMANS of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Jozef Berghmans, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the age of 85 years.
Lut is survived by 3 daughters: Marleen (Ernest), Anne Marie (Kenny), and Kristien (Lorne); 7 grandchildren: Scott (Catherine), Joseph (Kara), Jimmy, Jeffrey (Eddie), Gary (Siobhan), Brianna (Devon), and Michele (Josh); 5 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Bradley, Zachary, Alexander, and Sean; special friend Reverend Father Charles Choque; as well as extended family and friends in Belgium.
Jozef was the love of her life. Her piano was her best friend. Teaching piano was truly her passion. Mom will forever be remembered by all those who knew her as kind, gentle, and compassionate. Her love will live on in our hearts for eternity.
Our hearts are heavy. We are very sad. We miss you Mom, We love you so.
Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00 pm, on Friday, September 28, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

MRS. THERESA HALLER (nee Virostek) of Enchant, beloved wife of Mr. Larry Haller passed away suddenly after a brief illness on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the age of 67 years.
Theresa was born on September 13, 1945 in Lethbridge, the youngest of 13 children to Mary and Sam Virostek. Theresa attended school in Enchant and Vauxhall High School. After graduating she worked on the family farm with her brothers for a year, then went on to attend Garbutts Business College in Lethbridge where she received her secretarial training. She received a job with Canadian Pittsburgh where she worked for a few years.
Theresa married Larry February 4, 1967 and together they raised 3 children, Cary, Robin, and Marcie on the family farm in Enchant, where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed farm life, old members and new friends at the enchant Golf Club, supporting and cheering on her children and grandchildren in all activities. Grandma loved to spoil her grandkids.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 45 years Larry, her son Cary (Melanie) and their children Tyler and Joshua, son Robin and his daughter Alexandra, and daughter Marcie (Bryan Wolfer) and their children Braxton and Damon. She is also survived by her sister Josephine Kondas, brothers Donald (Donna) and Wayne (Joan), sister-in-laws Shirley, Linda and Diane, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Sam, brothers Sam, Joseph, Michael, Vern, Lawrence, George, sisters Helen, Mary and Betty, and brother-in-laws Steve and Simon.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the ENCHANT COMMUNITY CENTRE, with Pastor Jeffery Frostad officiating. Interment to follow in the Enchant Cemetery.

MR. DANIEL KIRK HIRSCHE of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Shannon Hirsche, passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the age of 54 years.
Dan grew up in Stirling, the youngest child of four. He met his loving wife Shannon and was married 25 years ago. He achieved a BA degree from the University of Lethbridge. Dan loved to read and watch his favorite TV programs. He loved camping and family reunions and his cherished dog Casey.
Dan had various careers but especially loved his time as a park ranger at Writing-On-Stone. At the time of his passing, he was employed at London Drugs.
Besides his loving wife Shannon, Dan is survived by his brother Bruce (DiAnn) Hirsche; sister Valerie (John) Hughes; sister-in-laws Janice Wilson Hirschi and Kelly (Basil) Lewis; Aunt June Spackman; mother-in-law Phyllis Jensen; brother-in-laws Lyle (Michele) Jensen and Ron (Erna) Jensen; as well as 18 nieces and nephews.
Dan was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Dorothy Hirsche, brother Patrick Hirschi and niece Angela Sherwin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 8, 2012 at MOUNTAIN HEIGHTS CHAPEL, 175 Rocky Mountain Blvd West, Lethbridge.

JOHNSTON
LLOYD WALLACE JOHNSTON of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Jessie Johnston for 67 years, passed away on September 5, 2012 at 95 years of age.
Lloyd was born in Calgary on March 7, 1917. He spent most of his youth on a dairy farm in Springbank west of Calgary.
He moved to Edmonton where he studied medicine at the University of Alberta and trained as a Royal Canadian Medical Corps officer. Lloyd graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1944 and on May 23, 1945, he married his lifelong partner Jessie.
In 1950 Lloyd completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology Fellowship at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. As a specialist he began his 42 year long career at the Haig Clinic and became chief of staff in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the then Municipal Hospital. In 1955 he took a sabbatical to teach at the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Oxford Medical School.
Lloyd was a senior life member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He served on several committees at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and on the University of Lethbridge Senate. He was actively involved in the United Church and in Kiwanis. He enjoyed curling, golf and gardening and was an avid football, hockey and baseball fan. He was a dedicated, loving father to five daughters.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Jessie and his daughters Lynn, Pat, Marcia, Rae, Pam and their spouses. He also is survived by his grandchildren Catherine, Court, Erik and Tim; his great grandson Midnite; his two nieces Ann and Erin and his nephew Clayton and their families.
Lloyd was predeceased by his brothers Hartley and Barry; his daughter Susan; his parents Ethel and Raymond; and his sister Shirley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 5th, 2012 at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 15 Ave South, Lethbridge with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating.

DON PUSTANYK (DONNIE) of Didsbury Ab, quickly and quietly left our world and entered Gods domain on September 23, 2012 in Camrose AB, where he had been a patient in The Bethany facility.
He leaves to mourn his passing; daughter Tereyl (Frank) of Abbotsford BC,, Son Ben (Stacey) of Chilliwack BC, 5 grand children, 5 great grandchildren and his first wife Margie of Coaldale AB, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and second family in Didsbury.
He was predeceased by his son Jerry, mother, father and sister Carreen.
Don was born in Fairview, AB, June 13, 1937 and grew up in Ft. ST. John, BC and Turner Valley, AB,.
Don worked service rigs in his younger years and in 1956 road one down in Calmar, AB. Where his lower body was crushed and this was the start of many hip replacements to come, in future years . He was not a man to ever complain. This would never stop him from the things he loved, snow mobiling, quading,water-skiing, and hunting. He loved the outdoors.
Don was a member of the Boilermakers Union Local #146 out of Edmonton and supervised many jobs throughout Sask and AB. In 1960 he entered in to his welding career and worked at many shops, pipelines and gas plants. In 1970 he moved his family to Pincher Creek, AB where he was contracted with Shell Waterton Gas plant. In later years he moved on to inspecting and supervising different projects in the oil industry.
There will be no funeral service.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s association.

BENNETT JOHN RASMUSSEN passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Raymond at the age of 96 years, beloved husband of the late Marjorie Gill Rasmussen.
He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie Gill, his son Devon Cole, his parents John Moroni Rasmussen and Mary Maude Bennett and five siblings.
He will be missed by his seven surviving children: Barton (Marlene) Rasmussen, Barbara (Clark-deceased) Dainard, Dwight (Mandy) Rasmussen, Lennie (Kelvin) Kado, Valene Steele (Gordon Low), Dixie (Jim) Coleman, Devon (deceased) (Gayla) Rasmussen, and Heather (Brent) Nemeth, 32 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, and three surviving siblings: Fontella Boehme, Alice Faye Rogers, and DeAnne Atwood.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Magrath Garden Chapel, 170 N Centre Street, Magrath.
Friends may meet the family at the church on Friday evening, September 28 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or prior to the funeral service on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m.
Interment in the Magrath Cemetery.
