DOENZ
BRUCE JAMES DOENZ, best friend and beloved husband of Laura-Marie Doenz left this world suddenly doing what he loved, working on the farm.
Bruce was born on May 31, 1952 in Lethbridge to Betty and Jim Doenz of Warner. He attended Warner School and went on to Olds College graduating with a Farm and Ranch degree. Bruce came home to the family farm east of Warner in the spring of 1972 and has been farming ever since. On June 21, 1980 he married the love of his life, Laura-Marie Kirchner and together they farmed and raised three children, Adam (Becky), Blake and Janay. Bruce’s family was his pride and joy and he was so very proud of each of them.
Bruce was a kind, honest, hardworking man who believed in getting ahead by setting goals and working hard. He thought that he had the best career, and was thrilled when Adam followed in his footsteps as soon as he could walk. Bruce was a very successful farmer and was proud of the accomplishments he and his brothers and son have made over the years.
Bruce was community minded and truly believed that Warner was the best community to live and raise your family in. Over the years he was involved in The Warner 4-H Beef Club, Ag Society, Warner Cemetery Board, Minor Hockey, Border Seed, Curling Club and was a supporter of the Warner Hockey School. Bruce led by example and was generous in giving his time and labor to his community and neighbors.
Bruce will be sorely missed by his immediate family, mother Betty, brothers, Murray, Monte (Laura), Evan, mother and father-in-law, Marvin and Lorraine Kirchner, brother and sister in-law, Dwayne and Kris Kirchner, nieces and nephews and so many friends. He was predeceased by his father, Jim in 2006 and sister-in-law Nadine in 1999.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 23, 2012 at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.

(nee Odegard)
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our only Aunt, Edith Mildred Steckler, who passed away peacefully on November 10th, 2012 at the Eden Care Centre in Chilliwack, BC. Born November 28th, 1925 in Travers, Alberta, Aunt Edie spent the majority of her adult life in British Columbia.
Aunt Edie always brought smiles and laughter to everyone around her. She had a generous spirit, a love of life, and many talents. She found delight in simple pleasures and loved nature.
She loved horses and loved to recall memories of her youth, living on the homestead in southern Alberta, and riding along the Little Bow River with her cousin Bernard Hanson.
Aunt Edie and her husband Walter (Wally) owned and operated the Stardust Motel and Trailer Court in Salmon Arm until their retirement.
Aunt Edie was predeceased by her dear parents, Jacob (Jake) and Esther Odegard, her loving husband Wally, her sisters Grace Onofrychuk and Margaret Peters, her nephew Gerald Onofrychuk and her niece Linda Cohen.
She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted nieces, Vangie Heynen, Ruth Elzinga, and Faye Lothian together with their families. At Aunt Edie’s request, there will be no service but a private family interment will follow at a later date. A special word of thanks to the loving caregivers at the Eden Care Centre.
Aunt Edie, you will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered and never forgotten.

PEGGY LEE ALWARD GURNEY, beloved wife of Shayne Gurney of Magrath, passed away on Monday, November 19th, 2012 in Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 58 years after a year-long battle with brain cancer.
Peggy spent her youth in Lloydminster. Peggy then moved to Edmonton where she attended University, worked, and met the love of her life, eventually moving with her husband to Magrath where she raised her children.
Peggy leaves behind a loving husband Shayne; five children; Daniel (Jody) Gurney, Jarem (Audrey) Gurney, Brett (Natasha) Gurney, Brook (Lee) Oviatt, and David Gurney, and fourteen grandchildren (Slade, Piper, Reese, Finn, Libby, Darby, Emery, Nash, Marjorie, Mya, Kingston, Olivia, Jackson, and Harper); her mother Marjorie Chernoff; 4 brothers, Craig (Marie-Anne) Alward, Bruce (Sandy) Alward, Brian (Lauri) Alward, Dwayne (Julie) Alward; and 1 sister, Sharon (Henry) Westers.
Peggy enjoyed genealogy and family history, and served faithfully in many capacities in the LDS church. Peggy loved to spend time with her grandchildren and loved the outdoors. Peggy spent as much time hiking and camping as she could, and many people recognized her on her daily walks around Magrath. She will be missed by all her family and remembered with love.
Friends may meet the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Welling Chapel, Welling, Alberta on Friday, November 23rd, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Welling Chapel, Welling on Saturday, November 24th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Magrath Cemetery. Donations may be made to Parks Canada on Peggy’s behalf.

May 30, 1924 – November 18, 2012 (age 88)
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Friesenat the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday with his family at his side. John was the beloved husband of Betty, loving father of Richard (Marilyn), Harvey (Donna), David (Rose Ann) and Rhonda (Gerry) Roth, grandfather of Chris (Addie), Ryan, Amy (Rob) and Jessica (Nathan), and great-grandfather of Camron, Carter, and Aubree. He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Jake (Mary), Carl (Tena), George (Helena), Sarah, Frank (Susan), and David (Hilda), as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
John was born in Wymark, Saskatchewan and his family moved to Chihuahua Mexico when he was a child. After several years the family returned to Canada and farmed in Saskatchewan and Alberta. In 1947, John married Betty Friesen and they started raising their family in southern Alberta. In 1953, the family moved to Swift Current, Saskatchewan, where they lived for several years. John and his brother Henry, established Union Construction and completed a large number of projects in southern Saskatchewan. In 1970, the family relocated to Lethbridge where John had taken a job to work on the construction of the University of Lethbridge. He took great pride in his contribution to the University’s unique construction.
John was a talented Journeyman Carpenter and master cabinet maker. In the latter part of his career, he turned his attention to his passion for building furniture and restoring old organs. He enjoyed fishing, curling, golfing, playing the guitar, accordion and organ. He looked forward to getting together with his brothers to make music. A new love in his life was his great-granddaughter Aubree.

YAN PALCHEVSKIY of Lethbridge, beloved son of Rosa Palchevskaya and Oleg Palchevskiy, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the age of 23 years.
Yan was born in Surgut, Russia and moved to Canada in October 2001. He attended Winston Churchhill High School and later he worked for Kiwi Iron. Yan will be terribly missed by his family. Our loving memories of Yan will live in our hearts eternally.
