RESS
ERIKA ANNA RESS beloved wife of Alexander Ress, passed away suddenly in her sleep on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013 at the age of 59.
Erika is survived by her husband Alex; son Robert (Brianne) Ress of Coaldale; daughters Jackie (Jerry) Roussel and Jessica (Nathan Dawson) Ress of Lethbridge; grandchildren Logan and Avery Ress; and brother Thomas Reich.
Erika was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Dagmar Reich and her daughter, Jennifer Ress.
Erika graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 1972. After graduation, she worked in the Dietary Department at the St. Michaels Hospital for 8 years. She then worked in the Admitting Office evenings at St. Michaels Hospital for 4 years. Erika then started her career with the Lethbridge School District #51 in April of 1985 and was still employed at the time of her passing. She spent her time from early on between Galbraith, Park Meadows and Nicolas Sharon ending her 28 year career with 20 years at Park Meadows. Erika loved her job and the children she worked with. She spent hours at home in the evenings working on personalized gifts for each kindergarten student in her class. She was gifted in working with special needs children in meeting all their needs and caring for them above and beyond her call of duty. Erika has worked with many children over the years and we believe she has touched each and every one of them.
Erika loved gardening. She would spend hours upon hours working away, pulling weeds and making sure everything was growing at the proper rate. From the garden to the flower beds, she was blessed with quite the green thumb.
All those associated with the Ress family know that every family function that Erika hosted or attended, there was never a shortage of food! Erika very much enjoyed cooking and preparing platters of everyone to enjoy. She loved having her family over for family dinners and visits, playing with her grandchildren, and catching up with her children. She always wanted to know how we were doing and what was new with us.
Erika was very much loved by her family and friends and she is definitely going to be missed. God took her to be with her eldest daughter, mother and father amongst other family members. The earth lost a wonderful, caring, loving person but heaven gained a beautiful angel.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd West, Lethbridge, AB with Pastor Nathan Fuehler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Erika to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 10th Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 9Z9 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2211 Lethbridge, AB T1J 4K7.
