JOSEPH THOMAS BOSCH, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the age of 90 years.
Joe is survived by his dear wife, Edith, and his brother Ed Bosch (Sylvia) of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was born May 31, 1921 in Faith, Alberta. He was raised on the family homestead at Aden, Alberta, where he farmed and ranched until moving to Lethbridge. Joe worked at the Lethbridge stockyards for a number of years and married Edith Pease in 1974. He enjoyed farming, coyote hunting, fishing and camping.
He will be sadly missed.

GRUNINGER
Mr. George Gruninger of Magrath, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Irene Gruninger passed away on Monday, April 16 2012, at the Chinook Regional Hospital.
George was born January 15, 1936 to Steve and Theresa Gruninger. He was raised in Magrath and married Irene Molcak on April 11, 1964.
George assisted his father with the family farm until his father's death in 1972. At this time George and Irene moved to the farm. Although actively farming, George worked for several years at the Magrath Co-op, the Department of Highways and Evcon Farm equipment. He then was parts manager Vanee Farm Centre in Lethbridge before working for Cardston County until his retirement in 2001. He continued to help his son Paul farm until recently.
George will be remembered for his love of music, coffee and cards. He enjoyed playing guitar and banjo with his music group which played regularly in the Magrath area. He was an active member of the Magrath seniors centre where he enjoyed visiting friends and playing cards. You could count on seeing George's truck in front of the coffee shop everyday, rarely missing a chance to catch up with the news. George served the community by spending countless hours and many years driving the Magrath handi-bus.
He is survived by his children Michael (Kathy), Cathy (Matt), Andy (Cheryl) and Paul (Danielle). He will be missed by his 7 grandchildren, Meagan, Amy, Madeline, Mark, Emily, Rayna and Wade. George is also survived by brother Steve and sister Elizabeth Stanek. George is predeceased by his wife Irene in 2009.
Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00 pm, on Friday, April 20th, 2012, at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4th Street South, Lethbridge, AB.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, April 21st, 2012 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Ave. South, with celebrant Father Tim Boyle.

Catherine Harty
1924 ~ 2012
Mrs. Catherine Harty, beloved wife of the late John J. Harty, passed
away peacefully with family by her side at the Medicine Hat Regional
Hospital on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the age of 87 years.
Catherine (Kay) was born on a farm near Burstall, Saskatchewan on
November 19, 1924. She married John J. Harty on July 17, 1947, and
moved onto the Harty homestead in the Hoping area. On June 23, 1962,
John was taken into God’s hands leaving Catherine with six children to
raise. She continued to work the farm and cattle operation with help
from friends, neighbours, and family. Catherine lived on the family
farm until she moved into the Good Samaritan Society South Ridge
Village in Medicine Hat. She enjoyed sewing and baking, especially
making donuts. Catherine belonged to the Faith CWL and was also a
proud cancer survivor. She leaves to cherish her memory four children
and their families: Carol’s husband, Charles Doering of Cessford and
their children, Charmen (Blair) and Clinton; Edward (Marlene) of
Lacombe and their children, Candace (Murray), Corry (Bart), Carrie
(Blake) and Cathy (Tim); Martin (Janine) of Rosalind and their
children, Amanda and Justin (Natasha); Alan (Irene) of Hoping and
their children, Heather and Blair; Gordon (Lorna) of Hoping;
Gerald’s children, Nicole and Ryan; nine great-grandchildren; one
sister-in-law, Mary Schnell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Susanna Schnell;
husband, John J; daughter, Carol; son, Gerald; grandson, Jace;
brothers, Jacob, John and Marcus and her sisters, Rose Meyer, Bertha
Harty, Barbara Frey and Selma Hellman. Family would like to thank the
doctors, nurses, and caregivers who helped to look after Catherine in
her later years. A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at
later date with interment following at Hillside Cemetery.

Gen Maruyama
1925 - 2012
On Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the age of 86 years, Genji Maruyama was
overcome by cancer and passed away peacefully in Lethbridge after a brief
stay at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care.
A private family graveside service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden on

as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his siblings Tuck, Jack, Jane and Ken Maruyama;
brother-in-law Tak Kano.
Gen was born in Fraser Mills, British Columbia on August 25, 1925. He moved
to southern Alberta where he married his wife Marge and raised a family on a
farm outside of Taber. Gen worked hard and lived a full life sharing his
time with family and friends up to his last few days. Gen appreciated visits
from family and friends during his stay at the hospital and palliative care.

MONTGOMERY
MR. ROY MONTGOMERY of Lethbridge, beloved husband and best friend of Mrs. Colleen Montgomery, peacefully completed his time on Earth on April 19, 2012 at the age of 84 years. Roy will now join his daughters Kellie and Gail and son Alan, who left before him.
Roy was born in Moose Jaw on November 21, 1927, the son of Rev. & Mrs. Roy S. Montgomery. The family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and then to Selkirk, Manitoba. On February 10, 1951 Colleen and Roy were married at Westminster United Church in Winnipeg, where Roy’s father participated in the Wedding Ceremony. Roy & Colleen were together for a wonderful 61 years.
In 1953, Roy joined the Administration of Haig Clinic and retired as Clinic Administrator in October of 1992.
Roy’s life was centered around his family, his occupation and his interests in the local Lethbridge community. Roy’s four children were born in Lethbridge and together with Colleen they were involved in many happy family times including boating, camping, fishing and numerous trips around Canada and the western United States. They considered themselves to be a very close and active family.
In retirement, Colleen and Roy became avid "motor homers" and visited many locations throughout Canada and western United States. They found San Diego to be their favorite "wintering location." In later years, they were happy to stay in Lethbridge, enjoying their home and family.
Besides his beloved wife Colleen, Roy is survived by his son Douglas (Jo-anne) Montgomery of Calgary, granddaughters Heather (Brian) Davis, Richelle Montgomery, Mallory Colleen VanSolkema and Carly VanSolkema all of Calgary, and Kendra Masonchuk of London, England; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his daughters Kellie and Gail, son Alan, sister Irene Cox, and brother Pat Montgomery.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.

MR. RICHARD (MICHAEL) O’BRIEN of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Patricia O’Brien, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the age of 73 years.
Mike, as everyone who knew would agree, had a wonderful green thumb and adored his gardens. His other passion was his music. Playing professionally for over 30 years, loved his drums and guitars. He was a veteran of the Canadian Army – position of Gunner. But most of all lived and loved his wife Patty dearly for over 30 years, with their affectionate nicknames for each other of "chicken" and "goat". They had many full loving years together.
After a 15 year battle with COPD, Mike lost his battle but lovingly passed at home with his family at his side. Please help us in thanking Lethbridge Family Services, the Palliative Care Team, Dr. John Geers, The Legion Poppy Fund, Veterans Affairs, Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels, Brenda, John Unrau, and all family and friends for your kindness, compassion and love.
Besides his loving wife Patty O’Brien, Michael is survived by his only daughter Michelle (Curtis) Raber, grandchildren Kristian (9), Emma (7), and Justine (14), his brother Vic (Marnie) O’Brien and their daughter Shannon, sisters-in-law Donna (Dave) Cody, Pauline (Jimmy) Reddy, father-in-law Thomas (Mary) Bellis, and brother-in-law Raymond Matthews.

GEORGE T. PENNER, was called home on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the age of 75 years.
He was survived by daughters Beverly and Wayne Johnson, of Amarillo, TX, Sandy and Todd Williamson, of Richmond, TX, Patti and Kerry Grzech, of Eckville, AB, Brenda Stoye, of Calgary, AB, and one son Mike (Lucille) Penner, of Calgary, AB, Pauline and Chris Andrews, of Calgary, AB; one brother Abe (Linda) Penner, of Vermillion, AB, sisters Anne Reimer, of Winkler, Sue and Abe Reimer, of Winkler, Helen Elias, of Winnipeg, Tina Friesen, of Winkler, as well as 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
George was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Katherina Penner, four brothers (David, Henry, Peter and Ed) and two sisters (one in childhood and Nettie Penner) all of Manitoba.
Raised on a farm, he had many occupations and dreams. In his later years he enjoyed hearing from and about his family and their exploits. Ill health plagued him for many years but he insisted he would out live us all. He will be truly missed by all of his family and friends.
At George’s request there will be no funeral service. Cremation.
