TAKASAKI
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of JEAN TOSHIKO TAKASAKI (nee Kato) who was born March 7, 1921.
Her kind will and strong heart kept her with us after suffering a stroke December 19, 2010. She went to Palliative Care February 3, 2011 where she received very loving care until her passing Sunday, March 27, 2011.
Jean was born in Japan and came to Steveston, BC at a young age with her family where she received her education. She was fluent in English, Japanese and French, which helped many immigrants when she was called upon to translate when her family was interned to the Picture Butte area during the War.
She met and married Johnny Takasaki and raised their family there. She was a very beautiful artist but very humble in her trade. She always had a large vegetable garden and was known for her beautiful flowers.
Her greatest accomplishments in life after coming from very humble beginnings was her family. All of Mom’s family were very attentive and came to visit and care for her in her last days with us.
Jean’s family includes: Joy Jensen, Gay (Jerry) Arnold, Alan, Leo (Dianne), Bob (Joanne), Vivian (Jim) Ragan. She has 20 grandchildren including spouses, and 15 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Johnny Takasaki, and infant son, father Gisaburo Kato, mother Kishi, brothers Harry and Nobby and an infant sister.
At Mom’s request, she is to be cremated followed by her wishes to have only her family present at a private family gathering.
She will be forever in our hearts and thoughts and her legacy will live on forever as a beautiful tribute of her life.
Thank you to all who helped in her care. We greatly appreciate everything that was done for her.
The Takasaki’s and extended family.
