Next Monday, there will be a full road closure where Scenic Drive turns into 9th Avenue North.
According to the city, the closure will allow for construction to Scenic Drive North that, once complete, will include a new north to south connection, new road and access to Softball Valley and an artwork-filled pedestrian underpass. This project is being completed with provincial and federal grant funding, according to a City of Lethbridge press release.
“When this project is complete, residents will be able to connect from South to North on Scenic Drive, which will be a great new feature for a lot of commuters,” said Richard Brummund, road infrastructure manager. “To accommodate the construction, we will need to close sections of the road throughout the project. This will allow for the completion of work as quickly as possible and minimize the inconvenience for residents.”
Weather permitting, the Scenic Drive extension will be complete in November, 2013. Updates on the project can be found at www.lethbridge.ca, or on the city’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
