Lethbridge Regional Police are investigating the kidnapping of a 64-year-old woman who was taken from a Westside neighbourhood and transported to Calgary where she was later found unharmed.
On Oct. 24, 2012 just before midnight police responded to a 911 call from a relative reporting that the woman had been kidnapped. The relative told police that family had found the woman’s vehicle abandoned, but still running. Attempts to contact the woman were unsuccessful.
On Oct. 25, 2012 at approximately 2 a.m. the woman was located in Calgary after she flagged down a police officer. She was subsequently taken to hospital as a precaution, but was not injured.
Police advise residents that this was a targeted crime and there is no direct threat to the general public. This kidnapping is connected to organized crime.
Investigation in the matter is ongoing.
No further information will be released, accoridng to police.
