A fire that caused thousands of dollars in damages to a southside home early Sunday morning is still under investigation
Seven units and 19 firefighters responded to the house fire in the 400 block of Leaside Avenue South around 2:50 a.m. Fire crews worked for close to three hours to extinguish the blaze. Lethbridge regional police also attended the scene.
"The initial damage estimate was $200,000," said Capt. Greg Kveder, noting most of the damage was located in the attic of the home.
No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
Police said the fire appears to be accidental, but the cause is still unknown.
