All eyes were on Lethbridge last week when a local couple claimed a $45.6 Million LOTTO 6/49 prize.
And then, another couple claimed a $100,000 EXTRA prize. Now, a group of eight from Lethbridge has claimed another major lottery prize, as Carla Elfring and her co-workers won $100,00 on the November 2nd EXTRA draw.
“I always add EXTRA to the group’s tickets,” said Elfring.
However, she didn’t know how lucky that decision would be until two days after the draw. She stopped at a store on Sunday the fouth to check the tickets on the self-checker.
“I didn’t believe what I was seeing,” she said.
So she put the ticket in the self-checker again, and again. Their ticket had won the second prize on EXTRA and a $20 LOTTO MAX prize for a grand total of $100,020!
Elfring said her reaction was pretty well contained to one word: “Yes!”
She held on to the good news until Monday morning. She waited until the all the group was seated at a meeting and she calmly brought a paper to her boss, explaining that they had won the lottery. She passed the paper around to everyone individually.
“Everyone was very excited,” she said.
Some group members plan to do some travelling and home renovations, and the money will surely help. Each member won just over $12,500. The winning ticket was purchased at Fas Gas at 431 Stafford Dr. N in Lethbridge.
The eight winners are Carla Elfring, Rosi Gregory, Wanda Harsch, Maciej Malinowski, Chris Ingold, Laurie Wagstaff and Murray Oikawa — all of Lethbridge, and Carla Koynin of Coaldale.
