A third physician will join an existing medical clinic in Fort Macleod, bringing the total number of doctors in the community to three after the closure of a second clinic in that community Jan. 4.

Alberta Health Services will continue to work with the community and local physicians to recruit two additional physicians to the area, according to an AHS press release.
Dr. Anne Uwalaka will join Dr. Steven Beekman and Dr. Tzvetan Parvanov at the Fort Macleod Clinic located at the Fort Macleod Health Centre.
“We are thrilled and grateful Dr. Uwalaka has agreed to join the Fort Macleod Clinic,” said Dr. Vanessa Maclean, south zone medical director. “We expect she’ll begin seeing patients within the next week or two. The physicians will all do their best to continue to manage the primary care needs of the community.
Emergency Department coverage has not been impacted and will continue uninterrupted.
Patients are advised, for life-threatening emergencies, to always call 9-1-1 or go directly to Fort Macleod Health Centre emergency department. Patients needing help locating a service or facility, are to call Health Link Alberta, open 24 hours a day, at 1-866-408-LINK (5465).
