Media reports ignore NRA spokesman's main concerns

Re: "NRA wants armed cops in schools" (Dec. 22 Lethbridge Herald) and the speech by National Rifle Association spokesman Wayne Lapierre.
I find it so sad that The Herald and the general media's reporting is so unbalanced. Readers, the problem is not so much what the media reports, but what they do not report, and that can lead to a totally slanted story. You covered the NRA gun issue to death, and ignored Mr. Lapierre's main concern. And that is the polluting the minds of our children. He says, "There exists in this country a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry, that sells and sows violence to its own people." He mentions video games with names like Bulletstorm, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, Kindergarten Killers. And films like American Psycho, Natural Born Killers, and top it off, with all kinds of porno stuff, and have the nerve to call it entertainment. He goes on to say, "A child growing up in America witnesses 16,000 murders and 200,000 acts of violence before he or she reaches the ripe old age of 18."
The national media, corporate owners and all the producers of this smut are content with their empire and with the status quo. Then as media, you talk about a national database for the mentally ill? How can our children stay sane when all this garbage continues to bombard them?
This Christmas when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we want to encourage everyone to spread love and care, not garbage. And readers, please look up the text of the NRA speech on the Internet.
