To Lethbridge MP Jim Hillyer:
I received your flyer in the mail a few months back, the one that loudly and proudly proclaimed your party's "victory" at abolishing the gun registry and even destroying the records pertaining to that registry. I visited your offices to complain about it and to be removed from your mail list.
Your unthinking hand-gun gestures in the house of commons rightly got you in hot water. What do you think of that now, Jim?
Do you not now, with the many school shootings, only the latest being Connecticut, see that terrible consequences of your unthinking attitude to guns, Jim?
Jim, you most certainly do not represent the views of the majority of Canadians. With the terrible grief resulting from lax gun laws, how can you possibly say that you are "pro-life" or pro "family values"?
The answer is to license guns and insure them like cars, disallow illegal modification to guns, limit the clip to four bullets maximum, require every gun owner to be licensed, trained, tested, insured and background-checked. Is that too much to ask when kids are being killed by policies like yours, Jim?
Maybe you ought to re-think your attitude about guns, Jim.
