Foremost to launch centennial history book April 7

Print PDF

Was the Foremost area your home, even for a brief period of time? Do you remember the small-town life and the surrounding prairies? Did you know that Foremost turns 100 years old in 2013?
The Historical Society has compiled wonderful family and community stories as well as hundreds of pictures in a new hard-cover book called "Shortgrass Country, Centennial Edition." This edition continues where the first book left off in the 1970s but also has stories from pioneer families who have been in Foremost for over 100 years.
From Albertson to Yancie, over 250 family stories were submitted and over 100 community write-ups of businesses, clubs and organizations are included.
We will officially launch the new history book on Sunday, April 7 in the Foremost Community Hall, beginning at 3 p.m. There will be cocktails, musical entertainment, slide show, first-edition auction, book distribution and supper. Pre-ordered books may be picked up then. We will also have books for sale at $60. Requests can also be mailed (with payment) to Foremost and District Historical Society, Box 489, Foremost, AB T0K 0X0 ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We invite you to come on home for the celebration and share your memories of Foremost. You can reminisce with old friends and make some new friends. It promises to be a special day for the community.
