The Lethbridge Regional Police Service has charged at 17-year-old male following an incident at a northside high school that prompted school personnel to initiate a lockdown.

Thursday at approximately 12:57 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance at Winston Churchill High School along the 1600 block of 15th Avenue North after a 17-year-old male student approached two other male students and began yelling at them. The 17-year-old grabbed one of the males and shook him, then pushed two females. He also uttered threats.

The 17-year-old male, who cannot be named, is charged with three counts of assault, two counts of uttering threats, one count of mischief and one count of causing a disturbance. He is remanded in custody to appear in court Jan. 21.
