A 72-year-old man died Saturday night after his truck was struck by another truck on Highway 3 near the Highway 25 turnoff.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., Lethbridge and Picture Butte RCMP, Lethbridge Regional Police and Lethbridge Fire and EMS responded to the two-vehicle collision.
As a result of the ensuing investigation, it is believed that a 2006 Dodge Dakota being driven by the 72-year-old man was travelling eastbound and pulled over to the left shoulder of Highway 3.
His truck was struck from behind by a 2006 Dodge Ram being driven by a 26-year-old Lethbridge man also travelling eastbound.
The male driver of the Dodge Dakota was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. A 74-year-old female passenger of the Dodge Dakota sustained minor injuries.
The name of the deceased, who was from Stand Off, is not being released at this time pending the notification of his next of kin.
The 26-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram was transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Highway 3 eastbound and westbound were impassible for approximately four hours and traffic was diverted.
An RCMP traffic analyst attended the scene and the collision is still under investigation.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
