ALERT’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-Lethbridge) wrapped up a drug trafficking investigation in the town of Fort Macleod after the seizure of nearly 250 grams of crack cocaine.
With help from the High River, Claresholm and Fort Macleod RCMP, police arrested a man and a woman following a vehicle stop in High River on Jan. 25. CFSEU-Lethbridge executed a search warrant on the vehicle and found 243 grams of crack cocaine.
The team then executed a second search warrant on a Fort Macleod residence in the 100 block of 22nd Street. As a result, the team seized approximately four grams of crack cocaine, three grams powder cocaine, a small amount of marihuana and a small amount of cash. In total, the crack cocaine has an estimated street value of over $31,000.
Michael Lane, a 50-year-old Fort Macleod resident, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of proceeds of crime and one count of possession. The woman was released without charges.
CFSEU-Lethbridge is an integrated team of Lethbridge Regional Police Service (LRPS) members and RCMP.
