Just got the latest "apology" from Canada's national airline for the latest clear-weather flight that was two hours delayed, Calgary to Lethbridge, without any explanation then or now. It is not possible for schedules to be perfect, says the carrier. Of course, the flight is on-time but 50% of the time; it would be as accurate to list its departures 60-90 minutes later. My point, and I do have one, is that subsidizing something seen as essential is reasonable; seeking new business is even better. But I wonder why no one is doing more to investigate why an "anchor" service out of this facility is prohibitively expensive and utterly unreliable, things that drive away patrons and cut deeply into the revenue of the place. Here we are, sheep again. Baaa. It's Lethbridge. It's small. It's windy. There are thunderstorms. We'll pay an international fare to travel within the province, get there when we get there, and be grateful for it.
