I really don’t understand the fact that people just don’t care what goes on outside their homes, little circles or lives. The conditions in which our governments at all levels operate is beyond me. I speak every day to people about issues going on and not only do they not care, most have no idea that these certain things are gong on around them. The government loves this and for that, they do as they please. We helped create this. Although I intend to run for mayor, I’ll keep those issues for the election campaign. The purpose of this letter is a result of trying to talk with Shaw Cable in regard to their programming on Aug. 12 from 6-6:30 p.m. While eating supper with my three daughters, we could hear the television, which is not uncommon. What really got my attention was the content of the program, “Family Guy.” The whole program (cartoon) was about the family’s daughter having sex with the family dog. Yes, you read correctly. The whole show was about her, the dog and the lesson of having sex with one’s own kind. I believe in this cartoon, the daughter is in her early teens. The dog’s age is a late adult. In disgust, I phoned my local cable provider and they totally passed the blame and insisted they could and would do nothing about it. A complaint has been filed to the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission. A show originally aired as late-night television that slowly worked its way to prime-time television by some sick network boss is the direct result of people not speaking out, the “What can I do?” attitude. Just for references, it’s the same as the do-nothing attitude that has allowed all or most governments to behave the way they do. I am totally disgusted and can assure you that politics are about to change. I can assure you our municipal election coming up in 2010 will be one of the most interesting elections this city or province has ever seen. Pat Bethelot Lethbridge
