An adjournment was granted Wednesday in the case of a Fort Macleod youth charged with murdering his mother . The 17-year-old, represented by Calgary lawyer Steve Virk, remains in the Young Offenders Centre in Calgary. During a brief video-link appearance in Lethbridge youth court, he heard the case adjourned to Aug. 26. The teen, who cannot be identified, was charged with murder after the body of his 34-year-old mother was found in her Fort Macleod home on May 4. The body of the single mother was discovered at her home by RCMP after receiving a phone call from a friend of the accused. Police have not resulted details of her murder, but it is believed a knife and axe were used. A Crown prosecutor on the case has said the judge will be asked to order an adult-level sentence if the accused is convicted. The boy’s lawyer earlier waived a suggestion he undergo further psychiatric review, stating his mental capacity at the time of the murder will not be an issue. The Lethbridge provincial courthouse also saw an adjournment in a case involving an unrelated murder. A Magrath man, 18-year-old Kristian Ramberg, had his case adjourned to Sept. 10. He is charged with assault with a weapon in relation to the death of Lyle Madge, 31, following an altercation in Magrath earlier this summer. Addison Wakefield, also 18, was charged with murder after Madge died en route to the Lethbridge hospital. Police believe there had been an altercation at a residence along the quiet street earlier. Madge was suffering from apparent stab wounds when police arrived, and another man found a short distance away had suffered a head injury.
