It’s pointless looking to Liepert for answers |

Greg Weadick’s column (June 26, Herald) certainly portrays a very rosy picture of where seniors care is being taken by this government. Time will tell if the majority of voters will be satisfied with this and all other aspects of health care that are being tampered with. Mr. Weadick, I am certain, is correct when he says not one of the people over age 65 have said to him, “Greg, I really want to move into a nursing home.” Not a single one has ever told him they look forward to the time when someone else tells them when they get up, go to bed, eat or take a bath. I would says this is a no-brainer. Why would anyone “want” the above? But as many of us unfortunately will discover, out of necessity we or a family member will have no choice in the matter and will require a nursing home. Mr. Virgil Grandfield’s situation with his father illustrates what can and will happen to many. It was suggested in the column that any concerns we have would be taken to Health Minister Liepert. After seeing and hearing him on TV, giving evasive answers to direct questions from the opposition in the legislature, I think it would be pointless.
