The case involving an Airdrie man charged with mail theft following a joint investigation into numerous missing passport documents has been put over for another few weeks.
Derek Roche made his second appearance in Calgary provincial court on Friday to have the matter put over until July 17.
The 30-year-old was charged in May with three counts of stealing mail while he was employed at a business in the airport with no connections to Canada Post after nearly 200 passport applications went missing in the mail since August 2007. Of those, 128 applications went missing after being sent from Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Cranbrook, B.C. All the packages were sent via Priority Courier from Service Canada outlets.
Mail theft is an indictable offence which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail.
