CHUTSKOFF MR. JOHN "LITTLE JOHN" CHUTSKOFF August 31, 1921 – June 21, 2009 John was born a twin on August 31, 1921 at Runnymede, Saskatchewan. He was raised on a farm, and took up farming until he decided to venture out into the great unknown. He and his twin brother started a hardware store in Humboldt and Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. Years later he went to work for Simpson Sears and held a lot of posts as manager in many cities in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. His last store was Penticton, from where he retired. He later moved to Lethbridge to be closer to family. John is survived by his wife Nellie, of 68 years, as well as two sons and two daughters. He had a very full life. A private family interment service will take place in Saskatchewan at a later date. The family wishes to thank everyone who took great and loving care of John. Martin Bros. DOUGLAS WAYNE PEDERSEN July 23, 1944-June 1, 2009 Doug was born in High River, AB in 1944 and passed away in Richmond, B.C. at the age of 64 years. He will be greatly missed and loved by his son Todd; daughter Michelle; grandchildren Natashya, Zachary and Vanessa and the mother of his children Dianna. HAMILTON NEIL HAMILTON passed away suddenly June 14, 2009 at the age of 73 at his home in Nanaimo, BC. Neil was survived by his children Brent and Belinda (Chris) and his four grandchildren: Justin (Jamie), Tanner, Mason (Yu) and Dana (Kael). He is also survived by his brother, Blaine Hamilton and sisters; Melba Baines; Yvonne Kalchuk and Gail Wood. He is predeceased by Guy Hamilton (father); Leola Hamilton (mother); Lyle Hamilton (brother); Doris Hamilton (wife) and Marilyn Hamilton (wife). Neil was a long distance truck driver for 50 years in many aspects of the trucking industry. Services to be held at a later date. MARSH HARVEY EDWARD MARSH, of Pincher Creek passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Born on a farm in the Granum District on March27, 1920, he attended both the Granum and Chinook schools. Harvey finished his schooling at Retlaw, where the family had moved. In 1942 Dad moved to the coast to work in the Boeing Aircraft Factory. He spent a very busy 15 years on the coast, but yearned to return and farm in Alberta. He married Marjorie Preston and their two sons, Ron and Roger, were born on the coast. In 1957, Dad and Mom purchased a farm at Pincher Creek. In 1962 our sister Deb, completed our family. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie in 1995, his father Walter Marsh in 1951, his mother Lena Marsh in 1979, as well as four brothers Clarence, Alvin, Archie, and Earl. Dad is survived by his sons Ron (Deb) of Millarville, Roger (Irene) of Pincher Creek, daughter Deb (Dennis) of Vancouver, sister Marian Hobberstad of Vauxhall, grandson Zacc of Vancouver, granddaughters Nyree of Nelson B.C., Jennifer (Bruce) of Calgary, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad has requested that by a simple private family interment his ashes be placed beside those of his beloved wife at a later date. He is survived by the love of his life Ashley First Charger; 2 loving children - Raistlin & Aaliyah; 3 sisters - Faith Morning Owl, Stacy (Sheldon) Chief Body, Coline Chief Body; brothers - Fernando (Olivia), Darcy (Roanna), Joey Morning Owl & Jack (Christy) Chief Body; 2 aunties - Velma (Gilbert) Eagle Bear & Lorraine Chief Body; great uncle Chris (Susan) Strangling Wolf Sr.; 7 nieces and 12 nephews; his in-laws Michael and Lorraine Rabbit. Bobby was a very free spirited person that loved to travel. In 2003, he had the chance to travel across Canada, all the way to Florida as a carney with Lauther Amusements. He also worked with North America Midway Entertainment, Conklin Shows & Mighty Thomas Carnival just so he could always get that excitement in his heart, knowing he was making it fun for others. He was well known for his tattoos & drawings, as well as his lyrics & poetry. This was his way of clearing his mind & letting others know about his interests. Bobby was always trying to make others laugh by making jokes about everything. If you were feeling down, he would always put a smile on your face by coming up with some hilarious comment or just being goofy. He cherished his family, friends & his dog, but most of all, he cherished his baby princess - she was his world as well as his pride and joy. RYAN MR. EDWARD "ED" RYAN of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Sheila Ryan, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Ed was born on May 15, 1933 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Rose and Stanley Ruskowski. During the years following high school, Ed was employed in various jobs in forestry, meat packing, farm supplies and as a radio announcer at stations in Dauphin, Saskatoon, Yorkton, Red Deer and Lethbridge. In the late 1950s, Ed was nick-named "Rock ‘n’ Roll Ryan" through his work as a disc jockey and promoter of record hops at the Henderson Pavilion. He was a pioneer in the field of live country and western and rock entertainment. Some of the musical acts he brought to town included Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jim Reeves. In the early 1960s, Ed decided to make a major career change. Ed completed his university studies in education in Lethbridge and at the University of Calgary and taught for one year at Henry Wisewood School. He continued his education in Educational Psychology and accepted a newly-designated position as Kate Andrews High School’s first counselor. Some of the highlights of Ed’s career included; taking numerous trips across Canada and throughout Europe with hundreds of students, coaching the high school’s Reach for the Top team for CBC-TV, capturing the Alberta championship in 1981, and the Canadian championship in 1985, and coordinating the Encounters with Canada program for 13 years. Ed also served on the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfers, was a member of the Southern Alberta Student Finance Appeals Board, and was an appointed representative on the Oldman River Water Quality Committee. In all his endeavors, Ed always had the courage of his convictions and was a strong spokesperson for those causes in which he believed. Outside of work, Ed was passionate about reading, writing, skating and gardening. Spending time with the gang at the library and his retired teacher friends fulfilled Ed’s love of meeting people, engaging in spirited conversation and hearing others’ life stories. Ed loved family gatherings and inspired his children and grandchildren to appreciate a love of learning. He has left a legacy of living life with joy! Besides his loving wife Sheila, Ed is survived by his 4 daughters and one son, Robin (Glenn) Bright – Amy and Erin, Louise (Darran) Lorne – Zoey, Susan Ryan, Kerry (Jed) Snatic – Bridget, Madelaine; son Sean (Susan) Ryan – Dezmond; sister Bobbie (Bob) Norman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Ed was predeceased by his parents Rose and Stanley Ruskowski and brother Walter Ruskowski. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the MARTIN BROS. TENDLER MARIE “HELEN” TENDLER, beloved wife of John Tendler, of Lethbridge, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the age of 75 years. Helen was born and raised in Pincher Creek, AB. On June 9th, 1956 she married John Tendler with whom she shared 53 wonderful years. Helen was generous, caring and fun loving. She loved people, especially her family and friends. Helen was an active member of her community, dividing her time between volunteering and church activities. As well Helen enjoyed travelling, camping and no matter how busy her schedule was could always find time for bingo. Helen will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Besides her husband John, she will be lovingly remembered by her 4 children - Cathy Hastie (Gary Desbiens) of Pincher Creek, Susan (Norm) Kerr of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Robert Tendler of Lethbridge and Joanne Tendler of Lethbridge; her 3 grandchildren - Tanya Hastie, Christopher Kerr and Rachel Kerr; 2 brothers - Joe Desbiens of Pincher Creek and Alfred (Mary) Desbiens of Lillooet, BC; her sister - Annie (Bernard) Hoffman of Pincher Creek; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
