Security could have handled situation differently Print E-mail

I had the great privilege of attending the unveiling of our new Radiation Treatment Centre here in Lethbridge.
What a feat and encouragement to so many southern Albertans who, at a time of need, will feel much more at ease to be able to stay at home in our own community to receive treatment. I am speaking of past experience as I too had to leave the comforts of my home to seek treatment in Calgary for six weeks.
However, we were all saddened by the gentleman that interrupted the program with a very deep issue of his own. My heart goes out to him as he is a deeply wounded man with huge issues with his facial tumour. I am sorry to say that the situation could have been handled differently by security. A gentle hand on the man’s shoulder could have gone a lot further than the aggressive approach he took.
This man wanted to get his point across that he is in need of help and that Alberta Health Services or the system has failed him. I sincerely hope he will get attention to seek medical help, emotionally and surgically.
