A 55-year-old Fort Macleod man has been found guilty of conspiring a plan to have a Kelowna couple murdered. The jury reached its verdict Thursday evening and found Steven Ragan guilty of two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit assault. Upon hearing the verdict, Ragan covered his face with his hand while members of his family were overcome with emotion. A jury of six men and six women were in deliberations Thursday to determine whether or not a man accused of conspiracy to commit murder is guilty of a crime. The 55-year-old was found guilty of conspiring with his friend, Art Hayes, for a hit on the Kelowna couple after Hayes lost a lawsuit to them over land. Hayes has since passed away. The Crown prosecutor called about a dozen witnesses to testify during the eight-day trial at Court of Queen’s Bench while the defence called two witnesses.
