A televised documentary I saw this past week on rising sea levels reminded me of the  widespread myths of a great flood. The best known is found in the Bible (Genesis 6-9), in which God commands Noah to build a large ship to save himself, his family and representatives of each kind of animal from God’s judgment on all other life.

“Last night I went to a fight, and a hockey game broke out.” This joke (funny or otherwise) is now dated, but continues to be relevant, as the issue of violence in hockey, once again, occupies a central stage in the Canadian media.
