“I still remember smashing my stick over the boards over there and living a few minutes in that penalty box,” said Versteeg with a grin. “It brings back a lot of memories.”
But on Tuesday all seemed forgiven as the arena unveiled a banner commemorating the born-and-raised Lethbridge resident’s recent Stanley Cup win with the Chicago Blackhawks as well as his LAA years where it all started.

The Southern Alberta High School Volleyball League’s fall meeting is tonight. Never let it be said the group takes time in going from the board room to the court. Regular season action starts next Tuesday!

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s hockey team was a dismal offensive unit last season.
For what seems like the umpteenth consecutive season, they finished in the bottom two of league scoring and failed to capitalize on several key chances late in the season while still fighting for a Canada West playoff spot.
They were a much improved team from the previous season, adding skill, speed and defensive awareness, but scoring continued to be a bugaboo.
That lack of offensive prowess puts a lot of pressure on the three rookies competing for playing time in goal.
Yes, head coach Chandy Kaip will be looking to an unproven trio of ladies to host the inevitable run of one-goal games which comprise the ’Horns season.
“No, I’m not nervous,” said Kaip, treating the question like an unwelcome guest tracking mud on the living room floor.
“I have a lot of confidence in the goalies we have here.
