My friend, from the big city, asked me what was so special about Lethbridge?

Rich Preston has thrown down the gauntlet.
One day after the Lethbridge Hurricanes wrapped up a 20-44-5-3 regular season that saw them finish well out of playoff contention, the general manager and head coach said it won’t happen in 2010-11.

Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, it was on the scoreboard where they took it on the chin as the Tigers lit them up for four third-period goals, erasing a 3-1 Lethbridge lead and taking a 5-4 win.
The eventful night, which also featured the Hurricanes pre-game awards and a final farewell to graduating players captain Carter Bancks, netminder Linden Rowat and forward Dustin Donaghy, got heated late in the second period when a line brawl broke out that also involved Rowat squaring off with Tigers netminder Tyler Bunz.

One minute Carter Bancks was a wide-eyed 16-year-old getting his first glimpse of the Western Hockey League. Now, he’s a 20-year-old graduating veteran closing the books on a memorable WHL career.
You can understand if the captain of the Lethbridge Hurricanes feels like he’s done a little time-travelling as he plays his last game on the Enmax Centre ice when the ’Canes host the Medicine Hat Tigers tonight at 7 p.m.
